Nicola Donohue, BSc (Hons) MSc (Pre-reg Physiotherapy), MSc. Neurology/Gerontology, MISCP
Qualification and Education
Nicola qualified with a pre-registration Master’s degree from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in 2012 following on from completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in NUIG in 2008. Nicola worked in the acute hospital setting in the NHS before returning to Ireland in 2015 to take up a role in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown working across an array of clinical areas before specialising in Neurology and Stroke in 2017. In January 2022 Nicola moved home to Galway to take up a senior role in the Integrated Care of the older person service before achieving a Clinical Specialist role in Pathfinder, a hospital avoidance service for older persons, in the University of Limerick Hospital.
Nicola graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in November 2022 with a Masters in Neurology and Gerontology.
Nicola is a Stott trained Pilates instructor.
Experience
Nicola has 10 years’ experience working as a physiotherapist across a diverse range of clinical settings. She is committed to providing excellence in practice in the area of stroke rehabilitation, older persons and neurology. Nicola has Qualifications in Bobath and NDT technique and has worked in both acute and rehabilitation settings as a senior and clinical specialist physiotherapist in the HSE.
Nicola is an active member of the ISCP having been involved as a committee member for the Neurology and Gerontology clinical interest group. Nicola is CORU registered and is dedicated to continuous professional development.
Nicola has worked with many sports teams in the past, as part of the physio team with Cuala GAA in 2017, Ballymun Kickhams in 2018 and the Galway intermediate hurlers in 2013.
Interests
Nicola is a keen runner and completed the 2017 Dublin Marathon. She enjoys yoga, music and has been involved in various choirs for many years.
